Q: Who are you? Are you a
real person?
A: I'm as
real as you are, but Eve Lilas is my pseudonym. It is a name I use for
all my fiction writing because I also write mainstream magazine
articles. It just makes sense to keep my two identities
apart.
Q: Don't you think writing
about sex is degrading to women?
A: Every time I
hear this I have to bite my lip to keep from laughing! Women are just
as lusty, robust and sexually driven as men. We have earned the right
to express our own desires and fantasies, just as openly and without
shame or apologies.
Q: Sometimes what you
write can be quite "raw," why don't you leave that part out?
A: I include
all the drama that exists in real life because it makes the story
believable. Life is sometimes very raw. I could make it seem prettier, but I think that the
believability of my stories would suffer.
Q: Do your ideas come from
your personal experiences?
A: It doesn't matter if a fantasy
is mine, as long as it's yours -because I write them for you.
Q: I've heard that writers
have to read all the time. What do you read?
A: I only read
fiction when I'm not writing it - and lately I'm always writing
it. I don't want my work to be influenced by the tone, style or
voice of others in my genre so I ensure that it isn't by not reading
their work while I'm in the middle of a project. I do read a lot
of memoirs though because they are very descriptive slices of life and
help me to learn about alot of different lifestyles -it's sort of like
pleasurable studying.
Q: We all have vices,
what's your biggest weakness?
A: Shoes.
I'm crazy about shoes, but I don't see them as a vice. I don't believe
that pleasurable experiences should have guilt and shame attached to
them. As long as they are between yourself, and another
consenting adult(s), it's not a vice or weakness. If you love
chocolate, have chocolate.
Q: Where do you live?
A: Right now in
New England. I've traveled to, and lived in, many different places
though.
Q: If I email you will you
answer me?
A: Yes. I love to
hear from readers, but please don't email me if you're looking for a
personal relationship connection. I'm sure you're amazing, but I'm not
looking for a date, and just because I write fantasies doesn't mean I
want to fulfill yours in person. Please don't send me nude photos
of yourself (pity that I have to say that out loud) or religious
materials either.
Q: Do only women read your
books?
A: No. actually
about 1/3 of my fan list is made up of men. I try to
explore both the hero's and the heroine's point of view in my books so
they appeal to both men and women.
